Road to Heaven

Updated: Apr 22, 2021

As I was laying down on my bed I had an incredible vision of the narrow road and its meaning. This vision is a reference to Matthew 7:13-14 which states:

“Enter through the narrow gate. For wide is the gate and broad and easy to travel is the path that leads the way to destruction and eternal loss, and there are many who enter through it. But small is the gate and narrow and difficult to travel is the path that leads the way to [everlasting] life, and there are few who find it."

As the vision began, I was walking on an invisible road and every time I listened to what God wanted me to do, a rock would magically appear in front of me so I could step on it to further and strengthen my walk with God. It was a walk of faith. This sequence happened over and over again until I reached a crossroad. It was a crossroad between the narrow road and the broad road. The narrow road signifying the path to Heaven and the broad road signifying the path to hell. The broad road was split into two parts and both of these parts led to hell. I truly believe that, when you get saved, it is your first initial time of hearing God so you return to the narrow road. That’s your first baby step on the narrow path, but there are indeed more steps to take with Him. As I continued to listen to God, I was at the crossroad and had to make a decision. Should I keep listening to God and allow Him to direct my footsteps, should I choose my own path which seems more comfortable, or should I return back to the world where Satan and his demons were? When I looked to the road to my right, it represented living in the flesh. In the Bible, it states in Romans 8:8 that "those who are in the flesh [living a life that caters to sinful appetites and impulses] cannot please God." The Bible also states in Galatians 6:8 that "for the one who sows to his flesh [his sinful capacity, his worldliness, his disgraceful impulses] will reap from the flesh ruin and destruction, but the one who sows to the Spirit will from the Spirit reap eternal life."

When I looked to my left it was very dark and even worse than the path to my right. This path represented the world. It looked like gross darkness. This path also represented people who never choose Jesus as their personal savior. We are reminded in 1 john 5:19 that "we know that we are children of God and that the whole world is under the control of the evil one." We have to remember what was spoken to Jesus when he was in the wilderness. Luke 4:5-8 states, "and he (Satan) led Him up and showed Him all the kingdoms of the world in a moment of time. And the devil said to Him, “I will give You all this domain and its glory; for it has been handed over to me, and I give it to whomever I wish. Therefore if You worship before me, it shall all be Yours.” Jesus answered him, “It is written, ‘You shall worship the Lord your God and serve Him only.’” This world wants to be worshiped but will you worship it? Will you bow down?

The road to the right and the left both lead to a place of destruction and separation from God. The two roads were dead-ends but I could choose if I would take either of them. One road was being led by the flesh which leads to destruction. The other road was lead by Satan which leads to hellfire. I noticed that God allowed me to choose my own road. There were three roads altogether and, as an individual, you must make a choice between the three. No one can ever make that decision for you. It will always be what's in your heart that will determine the path you will take. You can live in your flesh, pleasing yourself, not living for God, loving the world and remaining a lukewarm Christian, or go in the direction of the world where everything goes and there's no limitation to sin. They both lead to spiritual death and destruction to the eternal soul. I knew I didn't want to go on either of the paths to my right or left so I continued going on the path God had for me. This is the path I was already on. As I kept going, I saw the gates of Heaven open for me. As the gates of heaven opened, I immediately entered heaven. I heard God speak to me as I was coming out of the vision. He said, "I am leading you back home". The narrow road is the pathway to get back home. This is living a lifestyle of obedience. Even Jesus had to be obedient according to Hebrews 5:8. It states, "even though Jesus was God’s Son, he learned obedience from the things he suffered." Who are we to not be obedient.

I am reminded of Dorothy in the Wizard of Oz. All she was trying is to do was get back home and it was a red shoe that would lead her there. It's obedience to the choices God has for us and following his directions for our lives that will lead us to Heaven. This is an urgent message for people to stop loving the world, stay connected to God, be obedient to God, and disconnect from everyone and everything that is not of Him. Heaven is not as crowded as hell is because people do not like to do things God's way. People are so bent on doing it their way that they will miss Heaven in the process. The greatest example we have is Jesus. His flesh did not survive doing the will of God, but his spirit did. He was resurrected and is now seated at the right hand of God. The highest form of worship is obedience to God. We have to die to our flesh in order to live in the spirit so we can all make it back home safely. I will leave you with this passage of scripture. 1 Peter 2:11: "Beloved, I implore you as aliens and strangers and exiles [in this world] to abstain from the sensual urges (the evil desires, the passions of the flesh, your lower nature) that wage war against the soul." Let's all continue on the narrow path. I saw heaven and it was so beautiful. Let us not miss it.
